Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Preview - Denis Does Dallas

What’s Happenin’?

Sven back with another article looking ahead to Week 12! Trade deadlines have either past or are soon approaching in your leagues, so we’re going to focus hard on waiver wire pickups that could win you some matchups down the stretch here. Hope you don’t have too many Canucks! Let’s get into it:

Pittsburgh plays the Rangers twice, and New Jersey twice.

Despite no Malkin, the Pens are buzzing and scoring at a nice rate right now. They come into a pretty easy week given how feisty this division is, and were able to score nine goals in two games against Boston this weekend in a back-to-back they split.

START – You know what to do.

STREAM – Jared McCann (16%Owned ESPN, 17%Owned Yahoo)

I was able to watch both of those games against the Bruins this weekend, and frig did McCann look great. Skating with Jason Zucker and Evan Rodrigues, this line of Jim Rutherford imports seems to be gelling early. Evgeni Malkin hasn’t started skating yet, so we’ll ride with McCann this week. I don’t mind Zucker as an add either.

It’s worth noting the Flyers have a five-game week, but I’m not sure how much I trust anyone who isn’t one of their big boys.

Dallas plays Chicago twice, Florida, and Nashville

Time for the Stars to make some games up. If they want to catch up to Nashville and Chicago, they’re going to need to beat those teams this week! I would even consider holding your acquisitions medium-term for their four-game set with the Red Wings on Week 14.

START – Roope Hintz (Mr. Game-Time Decision), Miro Heiskanen

The kids are alright. When Hintz is in the lineup he seems to get the job done. Heiskanen’s shot rate is ridiculous and he’s on a nice little point streak at the moment. Also keep your eye out on Tyler Seguin news, as he was labelled “3-5 weeks away” on March 17th. Alexander Radulov won’t be available until Saturday’s home game against the Cats, but keep your eye out on him as well.

STREAM – Denis Gurianov (21%Owned ESPN, 19%Owned Yahoo)

For a speedy forward labelled as a sniper, Gurianov has apples in each of his last three games! He’s still shooting the puck, it’s only a matter of time before it goes in. We at FP were very high on him heading into this season but there’s still time to salvage!

Jason Robertson (31%Owned ESPN, 32%Owned Yahoo)

With all of the hype around younger brother Nick up here in Canada, most people probably didn’t even know there was another Robertson brother. Jason was a deep league rookie stash I considered in pre-season, but he really didn’t earn the top-six reps until Dallas started dealing with all of their injuries. He’s proving he is skilled as heck as of late, and is absolutely a hold until Seguin and Radulov come back.

Let’s have a good week everybody!

Take Care,

Sven
