Fantasy Hockey Week 13 Preview - Big Apple, Bigger Week

What’s Happenin’?

Sven back for another article looking ahead to Week 13. Last week we finally started to see teams add pieces to their lineups ahead of Monday’s deadline. Kyle Palmieri, the hairiest man alive is now on the Islanders’ top PP unit. Brandon Montour went from a cellar dweller to a beach bum and should get some PP2 time with Florida. There are probably four or five teams that are in on Taylor Hall. Keeping the deadline out of it, there are a couple teams that I love this week:

New York Rangers play New Jersey FOUR times.

The Blue Shirts are looking to make a playoff push given Boston’s injuries and Philadelphia’s Swiss cheese goaltending situation. What a week to take advantage of a team that has shed several players in the past little bit. Jersey will usually get some solid goaltending, but the Rangers big dogs should be able to have a nice week.

Adam Fox has established himself this season as an absolute horse on that back-end. Too bad he didn’t want to play for Calgary OR Carolina. Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider are all locks this week. Sprinkle in a little Pavel Buchnevich as well.

STREAM – Vitali Kravtsov (1%Owned ESPN, 2%Owned Yahoo)

This may be a stretch, but it could be a gamble that does damage for you in your Fantasy playoff push. Kravtsov is the Rangers’ 9th overall pick from a couple years ago and came over from Russia about a month ago. He is skating with fellow first rounders Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafreniere on the third line, but the upside is tremendous. He scored 16 goals this season in the KHL and is already shooting the puck a fair amount through four games with the Rangers. Once that first shot goes in for the youngster, the confidence will be through the roof and he may even get some PP looks. I’m taking a flyer on him this week in my 16-teamer.

Vegas plays LA twice and Anaheim twice

Talk about an easy week. Not much to say here, these are key points for Vegas in order to chase down Colorado and avoid Minny in the first round. Max Pacioretty has cooled off a bit but Mark Stone continues to dominate this league making it look easy. Despite the return of Alex Pietrangelo, Shea Theodore remains a beast. Marc-Andre Fleury and Robin Lehner have split starts since Lehner returned from injury, so I expect more of the same going forward.

STREAM – Reilly Smith (48%Owned ESPN, 29%Owned Yahoo) Chandler Stephenson (17%Owned ESPN, 15%Owned Yahoo)

It’s no secret Smith has had a bit of a disappointing season after popping off last year. That being said, he has picked it up as of late and the SOG appear to be solid. He’s worth picking up this week. Fresh off a three-game suspension, Stephenson will likely assume his role back on the top line from Nicolas Roy, and Cody Glass was assigned to the taxi squad. Turn to Stephenson for some assist upside, but don’t expect too many SOG.

That’s all for this week, tune into the Discord as we look ahead to Monday’s deadline! Let’s have a good week.

Take care,

Sven
